BE HONEST, YOU DO IT. WE ALL DO IT! Liberating — OK, stealing — those luscious bathroom amenities from their cushy castles can come with plenty of guilt, even before you factor in the carbon footprint of schlepping the sweet-scented stuff home. While reusable, sustainable vessels should be the goal for all our hotel shampoo, a growing number of luxury lodgings are at least creating environmentally friendly toiletries and squirting them into sustainable personal-size packaging.
Here are five of the greenest hotel goodies you might want to accidentally fall in your suitcase and end up on your bathroom shelf.

Hong Kong

Hong Kong’s K11 ARTUS is an ultra-luxurious residence-hotel concept, so it’s perhaps not surprising that they offer Aussie favorite Aesop when it comes to keeping yourself pristine. The coveted cult brand are on PETA’s cruelty-free and vegan list, and their sustainable packaging comes as standard. K11 ARTUS also work with non-profit Soap Cycling to process and distribute amenities to disadvantaged communities.
Malin+Goetz at Le Meridien
Kuala Lumpur

Certain smellies from Brooklyn-based skincare brand Malin+Goetz may come in plastic, but they’re made from recyclable high-density polyethylene—which also means less weight in your suitcase. In the Malaysian capital, Le Meridien offers their signature sage body wash, peppermint shampoo, cilantro hair conditioner, lime bar soap and vitamin B5 body moisturizer – all in suitcase- (sorry, travel-) friendly sizes.
IplusQ at Phulay Bay, a Ritz-Carlton Reserve

On the stunning shores of the Andaman Sea, your villa at Phulay Bay is already a sanctuary even before you escape for more me-time in their vast bathrooms. When you do, their products come from IplusQ, a Thai aromatherapy house that uses local ingredients such as coconut, pineapple, lime and Thai herbs. Handmade rice soaps exude gentle aromas, while their lemongrass version is more invigorating.
Republic of Soap at Nirjhara
Bali

A relatively new eco-hideaway, Nirjhara sits amid jungle and rice paddies on Bali’s southwest coast. Their fragrant amenities are all locally made by Republic of Soap using the island’s rich natural bounty of bamboo, sandalwood, ginger—and even volcanic ash. Their range comes in handcrafted earthenware, not easily steal-able pots by local artisans at Gaya Ceramics—but if you ask nicely, we’re sure you’ll be able to buy some to take home.
Satori Osawa at The Peninsula
Tokyo

The Peninsula takes things up a notch as the first group to have personalized scents for each of their hotels. In Tokyo, fragrance curator Satori Osawa has crafted lemon, violet and sandalwood with other all-natural ingredients into a beguiling signature line. The packaging is recycled aluminum or 99.9-percent free of single-use petroleum plastics, while toothbrushes and more are made from corn starch, wheat and wood.
