“Digital maps cannot replicate the charm of an old-school compass,” smiles Tobias Emmer, Camp Manager. “Channel your inner adventurer as you glamp things up, retro-style – our experts put together the perfect itinerary to experience the confluence of Thailand, Myanmar and Laos like an explorer from the bygone era!”
At the Camp, going #OffTheGridWithFS is key to seizing the day. Go fishing with the local as you unplug to make memorable connection with the destination that is the Golden Triangle.“Follow the compass (and your Camp Guide) to find yourself in the perfect spot for a Riverside Dinner,” shares Tobias. While the sun puts on a show as it sets over the Ruak River, savor camp-style cocktails and a BBQ dinner in a setting that’s straight out of any explorer’s handbook.
“We offer a unique opportunity to truly immerse in the local culture,” adds Tobias, “These experiences are a mix of adventure, cultural exploration and relaxation, tailormade for your style of travel. Stay a little longer and experience more of the campfire.” The luxury tented accommodation with breakfast gives guests every reason to do so.
Embracing the Local Way of Life
Nestled in emerald working rice paddies and overlooking lush tropical bounty, Four Seasons Resort Chiang Mai is a true reflection of Thailand culture legacy. The resort offers guests a sanctuary of wellbeing, perfect for unwinding, recharging and finding their fulfillment with individually tailored experiences. With the launch of Chaan Baan, the Resort gives guests an opportunity to get up-close-and-personal with the cultural milieu of the land.,
“Discover time-honored tools and techniques used in rice cultivation housed in a typical rural courtyard,” shares Assistant Director of Rooms Ashok Nair. “Learn to plant shoots first-hand from our experienced farmers, spin the potter’s wheel or create beautiful art on fabric with natural dyes. Walk through the carefully nurtured herb and vegetable garden to meet our friendly water buffaloes to help them with their ritualistic bath.” The term “Chaan Baan” refers to the terrace outside a traditional Thai home, or an outdoor living space – often a courtyard that connects the different parts of the house. “Traditionally, it is a place where families gather to dine, celebrate and socialize,” shares Ashok, “At the Resort, we wanted to create a similar space where guests can come together to enjoy the local culture.” Chaan Baan also highlights the concept of sanuk – a wide-reaching idea that embodies the playfulness and sense of humor that is central to the culture. “It’s the perfect venue for families to spend quality time with their children, learning the nuanced way of life in Thailand,” he adds.
