T+L Asia loves a good chef pop-up—especially when hosted on a lush Thai island by one of the country’s hottest chefs. If you haven’t seen Chef Tam Chudaree Debhakam on Netflix’s Midnight in Asia, Top Chef Thailand or read about her Michelin-recognized farm-to-table fine diner Baan Tepa, she’s one to have your eye on.

Ever since she became the first and youngest chef to win Top Chef Thailand, Tam has become synonymous with contemporary Thai cuisine. Though she cut her teeth in the US, attending school at the International Culinary Center and working as Chef de Partie at Blue Hill at Stone Barns in New York, it was in Bangkok where she made a name for herself. These days, Baan Tepa is one of the hardest tables to book in the city, with foodies booking months out just to sink their teeth into her impeccably-plated dishes made from ingredients sourced from sustainably-minded local producers and the urban food space she built in the restaurant’s backyard. In its short time being opened, Baan Tepa fast and furiously became a hit, earning a Michelin Bib Gourmand and No. 86 on this year’s Asia’s 50 Best List.

So when we heard Chef Tam was heading to Koh Samui to host an all-day culinary experience at the secluded getaway of Napasai, A Belmond Hotel, Koh Samui our ears perked. With a cooking philosophy that values seasonality, food equality, connection and elevating humble ingredients, the chef invites guests to venture out to a local farm to harvest ingredients and help prep the yield before sitting down for an intimate farm-to-table dinner of southern Thailand flavors.

“Meaningful connections and great stories are created through our universal love for food,” says Chef Tam. “Being from Bangkok, it is always a joy to visit the majestic beachfront of my home. I look forward to creating great flavors on the tropical paradise of Napasai.”

If hanging out with one of Thailand’s top chefs for a day isn’t enough to get you excited, we’re pretty sure a stay at Napasai will. On a secluded hook on the northern shores of Koh Samui, Napasai sits on eight hectares of grounds laden with cashew and coconut trees, jasmine and frangipani, hibiscus and bougainvillea. The hotel emanates luxury with villas luxuriously decorated with teak furniture, Thai silks, and each has a large palm-fringed terrace. Arguably the perfect setting to appreciate the bounty of the island.

Guests of Napasai, A Belmond Hotel, Koh Samui who stay for a minimum of two nights from Friday, 29 July to Sunday 31 July can make a reservation for the full-day itinerary with Chef Tam by emailing info.nap@belmond.com.
