The Laguna, a Luxury Collection Resort and Spa, Bali, has been seducing visitors for more than thirty years. With a sun-drenched location on the sumptuous sandy beaches of Nusa Dua, the destination is perfectly set off by the sparkling waters of the Indian Ocean.

Once nestled inside its stylish perimeter, guests want for nothing but to surrender themselves to the lavish Balinese lifestyle available at the five-star resort.

To make the experience even more enchanting, the hotel has completed a serie of uplifts throughout the property, including a remodeled lobby, refurbished rooms, and fresh food and drink options.

The Lobby & Arrival Experience

The Laguna, Bali: Main Lobby
Main Lobby

As guests approach the new lobby, they will be welcomed by a group of stone Baleganjur sculptures. Beyond that unfurl the intriguingly winding roots of the property’s famed bodhi tree.

Bodhi trees have important cultural significance in Bali and are thought, by some, to contain magical spirits. The trees symbolize growth and enlightenment while reflecting The Laguna’s philosophy to deliver enriching experiences that will linger with guests long after they leave the island.

Inside the lobby, the deep rich percussion of a traditional Balinese gong provides an atmospheric soundtrack for two Balinese dancers as they perform a local folk dance in traditional Kamen dress.

The central grand chandelier is the vocal point of the overall lobby experience, it is the centerpiece guests stepped into the lobby. The grand centerpiece glass chandelier of the lobby is now a designed cluster arrangement inspired by the local Balinese flower Ylang-ylang, or in Balinese, Sandat. The petals are formed by bespoke glass blown petals, which pay homage to the original Murano chandelier but are seen in a more contemporary, elegant, calm, and soothing experience of the lobby. Ylang-ylang is chosen as it is used in the everyday life of a Balinese such as in offerings and in romantic occasions such as weddings. Ylang-ylang is an enduring flower that grows on trees and vines, and the tropical aroma of its blossoms fills the air of the island. It represents the flower of life and is often interpreted as “fragrance”, where the flower is still fragrant even when it has withered.

New Rooms, Suites and Villas

The Laguna’s villas, suites, and rooms have been reconfigured as part of the transformation. The new design of the rooms is inspired by the collective stories and traditions of Bali, as well as nautical elements influenced by the resort’s seven lagoons and the travel-based DNA of the Luxury Collection brand.

BALINESE – The main feature of the headboard is a panel of Balinese ‘sulaman’ embroidery seen in kebaya fabric, interpreted as an abstract floral motive of Bali’s neutral tones.

NAUTICAL – The story of the lagoons and the nautical experiences around it are celebrated in the room design, evident in the bespoke selection of lamps and shiplap walls.

TRAVEL – Design details, such as the leather detailing of a suitcase next to the bed, pay homage to travel and discovery.

With private pools, a butler on standby and access to their own stretch of beach, Laguna Pool Villas are the last word in indulgence: think of them as the ultimate honeymoon retreat or the most decadent base imaginable for a special birthday or anniversary.

The Laguna, Bali: Banyubiru

Banyubiru is The Laguna’s poolside buffet restaurant. The interiors are a love letter to tradition and use vintage-styled warung stalls and rattan and bamboo fittings and furnishings in honor of local customs.

The all-day dining experience provided by Banyubiru includes authentic Balinese, Indonesian and Chinese dishes alongside international breakfast favorites. The restaurant is also the venue for the property’s amazing thematic performances, where local dishes are served to guests as they watch an immersive theatre show.

de Balé Lounge & Bar sits beneath the canopy of two sacred ancak trees. Described by the hotel as a “theatrical and mystical cocktail bar inspired by centuries of the oceanic spice trade,” it features wooden Tikki styling that provides the perfect atmosphere for sharing a bottle of bubbly or an expertly mixed cocktail.

de Balé is also a hotbed of entertainment. It hosts The Laguna’s nightly fire dancing performance and other fascinating cultural experiences, providing fitting spectacles for guests to enjoy as they salute the setting sun and relax into the evening ahead.

With its transformation, The Laguna, a Luxury Collection Resort & Spa, Bali, can offer even more memorable experiences to its already incomparable luxury experience.
