ANDAZ HOTELS AND RESORTS HAVE ALWAYS been known around the globe for bringing a distinctly boutique flair to any place. So it should come as no surprise that the luxury brand’s debut in Indonesia is something truly exceptional. Set in the vibrant neighborhood of Sanur, a laid-back seaside area far from the bustle of Kuta, Andaz Bali embodies the spirit of a traditional Balinese fishing village—with five-star amenities, naturally.

Tierra Design, a Bangkok-based firm, and Spin Design Studio, which is based in Tokyo, joined their creative visions to imbue the space with a sense of discovery. Emerald tropical foliage conceals and reveals striking buildings made of red brick, the traditional construction material of choice in the area for generations. Architects and designers were careful to preserve the unique character of the mature landscape when envisioning the resort. As a result, guests can enjoy an exceptionally lush, green space filled with ancient trees.

Each of the 149 guestrooms, including the 18 Garden Villas and four Beach Villas, are arranged around a series of courtyards and boast private balconies overlooking the gardens, ocean or lagoon. These plush abodes are kitted out in contemporary Balinese style replete with locally sourced materials including andesite stone, bamboo, marble and teakwood.

In keeping with the communal culture of the island, at the very heart of the resort is a Village Square, complete with four interconnected Studios perfect for hosting creative gatherings and all manner of events. Natural shading keeps these outdoor spaces breezy and pleasant all year long.

Wellness is an integral part of Balinese culture, which is why the Shankha Spa in the adjacent Hyatt Regency Bali offers all manner of holistic healing treatments that draw on the island’s potent indigenous ingredients and ancient traditions. There’s also a space for yoga sessions, along with a fitness center, sauna, steam room, and hot and cold plunge pools to refresh mind and body. Meanwhile, all guests at the Andaz Bali can take advantage of the breathtaking infinity pool, the relaxing pool situated beneath a majestic tree, and a children’s pool for the little ones.

Should you find yourself craving a modern interpretation of Jimbaran’s sumptuous seafood dishes, Fisherman’s Club is sure to delight. Meanwhile Village Square features four intertwining restaurants and an open seating concept inspired by the shophouses in Denpasar’s Chinatown. Guests can enjoy roasts from Blue Oven, freshly grilled meat at Fire Fox, or coffee and desserts from Deli & Bakery. The breakfast at Wok Wok, which includes a mouthwatering mix of Indonesian and Western staples, as well as both healthy and indulgent options, is a must-try. both In this immersive space, there’s something to please every palate and delight all the senses at every turn.
